Preparations are underway for King Charles III’s coronation in May, including logistics involving the participation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! Yes, really! After ALL the royal family’s drama lately, it sounds like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex *might* be making the trip to the UK soon!
So, here’s the deal. DailyMail.com spoke with several sources on Thursday to get the scoop on the upcoming crowning ceremony — the first of its kind in 70 years. After so much talk about the Archewell founders’ possible attendance, you might be surprised to hear that officials working for the Master of the Household’s Department and Lord Chamberlain’s Office have been organizing the event with the assumption that Harry and Meghan will be there.

Over the weekend, the couple’s spokesperson confirmed they received an invite by “email,” but they have not indicated whether or not they will show up. It’s been said Harry wants an apology, or at least a heart-to-heart conversation, with Charles and Prince William before agreeing to attend, but the other men don’t seem open to reconciling, leaving everything up in the air.
According to one person in the know, the California residents are “being factored into” the plans for the historic event, they dished:
“Harry and Meghan are being factored into all of the planning…. the cars, the seating plans, dining arrangements, everything. No one knows for certain whether this means they have definitely accepted – it could, of course, be just in case they do – but it’s clearly not a ‘no.’ The staff are certainly working on the expectation they are coming. These kind of arrangements have to be made well in advance.”
This obviously doesn’t prove they RSVPed. Organizing an event this large and important is a huge feat. It would be a lot easier to plan for a few extra attendees than to have to scramble at the last minute to find transportation and seating for the estranged royals. Plus, negotiations over what specific events the couple would attend, where they will sit, what they will wear, and their security will likely go down to the wire regardless of this early prep.
BUT… the source has a point. If they’re still being planned for, there definitely wasn’t a hard pass given. Maybe Meghan and Harry are leaving their decision down to the wire, too.

There is another indicator Charles might get to reunite with his family on the important day. Another insider with knowledge of Harry and Meghan’s thoughts on the matter suggested they’re interested, saying:
“The indication is that they are [attending], although there is a lot that needs to be worked through first.”
Whoa!
There’s more hope where that came from, too! While Charles and William might not be open to an apology, palace sources think the new monarch may extend an olive branch to the pair by inviting them to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the whole family after the ceremony. As it stands, only working royals are allowed on the prestigious spot. The same ruling stood for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, which is why Harry and Meghan weren’t seen much during the various events.
If this exception is made, it would definitely ruffle some feathers between the brothers. That said, no matter how contentious the feud, William doesn’t want to ruin his dad’s special day, so he’ll likely go along with whatever His Majesty wants, per sources. However, if this balcony appearance doesn’t occur, it’s just as likely the brothers won’t need to interact publicly since Harry won’t be involved in the actual crowning. We have a feeling William would prefer it that way!
All this seems to be the strongest indication of a reunion that we’ve gotten thus far! Also, Harry’s proven he still cherishes his ties to the regal institution — despite how publicly he’s bashed The Firm for their past sins! Earlier this week, the parents of Archie and Lilibet officially started using their kiddos’ royal titles, Prince and Princess! Even after they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage!
Cynically, we could also point out… considering the majority of their money has come from putting the royals on blast in various media projects, it also behooves them to continue making appearances. The more drama they stir up, the more they’ll have to dish about later, and the more money they’ll make. But, honestly, who knows? The event is still two months away. Anything could happen! Predictions?! Let us know (below)!
