The announcement also revealed that Top Chef host and James Beard Award Winner Tom Colicchio was brought on to help refine the menu, while award-winning New York architects, Glen & Co. worked to design the space. According to Joe Gurdock, President of Central Perk Coffee Co, the goal was to make the coffeehouse feel like an updated version of what the show’s coffee shop would look like now.
“Our designer, Glen Coben, was able to solve the philosophical issue of how do you bring something from 20 years ago to life today in a functional way that would actually work versus a television set,” he explained.
The location will feature two outdoor patios and a streetside parklet, as well as a cozy Orange Sofa room inspired by the iconic Central Perk couch.
