Chris Evans weighed in on some viral comments famed director Quentin Tarantino made about the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year.
In an appearance on the 2 Bears 1 Cave podcast in December 2022, Quentin opined that the MCU’s actors are “not movie stars.”
“Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times…but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star,” he explained.
At the time, multiple actors in the mega-successful film universe weighed in, including one of Quentin‘s friends and a central actor in the cast.
Months after the fact, Chris reacted to the comments and revealed where he stood. His answer might surprise you.

“That was the beauty of working on Marvel films. You never really had to be front and center. Even in your own films sometimes,” Chris said during an interview with GQ.
He proceeded to reference Quentin‘s quote, saying, “You know, he’s right. The character is the star. You’re there, but you don’t feel the burden of it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the Captain America actor explained why he did not feel like a movie star but implied that one of his MCU co-stars fit the bill.
