“Although, Coco sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her,” they added, confirming she attempted suicide at home July 2 and had been rushed to hospital, where she had remained in a coma until her death.

Among her many feats, Coco sang the Mandarin version of the theme song “Reflection” from 1998′s Mulan, and she became the first Chinese American to perform at the Oscars with her rendition of “A Love Before Time” Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

She was the first Chinese singer to be signed by Sony Music globally, and along with her singing career and 18 studio albums, she starred in No Tobacco, Master of Everything and Forever Young, as well as judging shows like Chinese Idol and Come Sing With Me.

She married Canadian businessman Bruce Rockowitz in 2011 and had two stepdaughters from the marriage. Our thoughts are with Coco Lee‘s loved ones at this difficult time.

We have sadly lost many stars in 2023.
