Daniel, who was seen testing out Red Bull’s current RB19 car at the Silverstone track in England on Tuesday (July 11), made a statement about rejoining the grid.
“I am stoked to be back on track with the Red Bull family!” he stated, with Franz Tost, who is the AlphaTauri Team Principal adding more about the switch.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Daniel back into the team,” Franz shares. “There’s no doubt about his driving skills, and he already knows many of us, so his integration will be easy and straight forward. The team will also profit a lot from his experience, as he is an eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner.”
The switch comes amid Nyck having a difficult season so far. With the most recent British Grand Prix, he now places in the last spot on the leaderboard.
Daniel was last on the grid in 2022, before stepping back after two seasons with McLaren.
His first race following the news will be the Hungarian Grand Prix, set for July 23.
Over the weekend, there was a lot of action happening at the British Grand Prix with filming on Apple’s upcoming movie!
