Dolly Parton Reveals Her Retirement Plans, & They'd Ensure She Went Out With a Bang

Dolly Parton is opening up about her eventual retirement.

The 77-year-old “Jolene” music icon has been working since the ’60s and has another album called Rockstar coming out in November 2023.

During a recent interview, Dolly was asked if she had any plans to slow down in the near future. As a matter of fact, her ideal retirement would ensure that she goes out with a bang.

During an appearance on Greatest Hits Radio, Dolly made it clear that she really doesn’t plan to step back from music. At least, not anytime soon and of her own free will.

“I would never retire. I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song onstage someday,” she said about her plans for the future. “That’s how I hope to go.”

She continued, noting, “Of course, we don’t have much of a choice in that. But as long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good and my husband is good. I mean, the only way that I would ever slow down or stop would be for that reason. But in the meantime I’m gonna make hay while the sun shines.”

Speaking of Rockstar, we still cannot get over how many fellow icons are on the tracklist!
