Donald Trump Arrested — Pleads Not Guilty To 34 Charges!

It’s an historic day as Donald Trump has been arrested.

A man getting arrested after being credibly accused of committing multiple crimes, for which an accomplice has already gone to prison and testified against him… obviously that’s an everyday occurrence in courts of law all over the US. But this is the first time such a man has been President of the United States first!

The Republican leader surrendered to authorities at the Manhattan courthouse around 10:30 am to be fingerprinted and processed before being arraigned — though he reportedly was NOT given a mugshot. Obviously he doesn’t need one, he’s one of the most famous people on the planet. But still a shame for folks who love a good celeb mugshot.

See the moment he arrived in the courthouse for his arraignment (below):

The indictment against Trump was unsealed, confirming he was indeed charged with 34 felony counts of falsification of business records in the first degree, all tied to the hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal just before the 2016 election. He was also charged with conspiracy, presumably due to conspiring with Michael Cohen to pay these women off.

According to NBC News, prosecutors said Trump “tried to conceal a conspiracy and undermine the 2016 election, to identify and suppress negative information.” They said the hush money constituted “covert and illegal payments” which were “at Mr. Trump’s direction.” In paying Michael Cohen, Trump committed a crime, they argued, in falsifying the business records to conceal “a more serious crime.” Since they specifically referred to undermining the election, it seems pretty clear that was the crime they’ll argue he was concealing — and given it all happened just days before Super Tuesday, it’s a pretty obvious connection.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges — naturally. It’s not like we’ve ever known him to take responsibility for anything, ever!

Prosecutors also said Trump “has made recent threatening emails and speeches, both directed at New York City, the courts here in New York, the justice system, and the District Attorney’s office.” Prosecutors called out “irresponsible social media posts” which “threatened death and destruction.” They specifically mentioned the post Trump shared which showed him swinging a bat at DA Alvin Bragg. New charges did not arise from any of these statements, but the prosecutors voiced their concerns about how it might intimidate witnesses.

Trump certainly has been calling for his supporters to fight. A few protesters did show up at the courthouse, on both sides, but not nearly the chaos the ex-Prez predicted — or maybe hoped for. Maybe their hearts just aren’t in it? Maybe enough folks are looking at these charges and thinking it’s all pretty reasonable? We guess we’ll have to see…
