Emma Stone Explains Why Doing a Silent Film Was a 'Dream Come True,' Teases Tackling More

Emma Stone opened up about the surprising appeal of doing a silent film while attending the premiere of her new project Bleat at the 61st New York Film Festival on Wednesday (October 4) in New York City.

The 34-year-old actress made a surprise appearance at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center for the special occasion, where she joined director Yorgos Lanthimos.

She reflected on the short film during an onstage conversation. Emma also revealed if she was interested in tackling more movies without dialogue.

Emma described the opportunity to work on a silent film as a “dream come true,” according to Variety.

She continued, saying, “If I never had to talk again, I’d be thrilled. And so would a lot of other people…”

The actress made it clear that she wasn’t joking about the idea: “I’m being serious. It’s my favorite thing to not have to speak. I wish often think we could cut many lines of dialogue because I think people can say a lot more without speaking.”

Although she recognized that sometimes words were essential, Emma added that she was down to do another silent project. After the SAG-AFTRA strike, of course!

If you missed it, Yorgos recently addressed Emma‘s sex scenes in Poor Things, another project that they worked on together.
