We have our first possible spoiler for Grey’s Anatomy Season 19.
And it’s a huge one, folks!
In an interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet this week, Kate Walsh didn’t rule out the possibility of returning to the beloved medical drama in the role of Dr. Addison Montgomery.
Walsh made multiple appearances as this physician on the recently-completed 18th season of Grey’s Anatomy.

“Who knows? There is a possibility. I don’t know what I would do,” Walsh told this outlet about the aforementioned bombshell.
“We’re chatting a little bit about the possibility of coming back for something, but I don’t know yet.”
Walsh then offered up some Season 19 teases as follows:
“I just know that there’s going to be massive, just a lot in store for the next season, a lot of changes, a lot of really cool, I think new beginnings and different… just different places that the show is going to go.”

Walsh took many viewers by very pleasant surprise when she reprised the role of Addison a few months ago.
Prior to her return, Patrick Dempsey made a couple cameos on the show as Derek Shepherd, while T.R. Knight also visited Meredith in her dreams as George O’Malley.
For her part, Walsh left years ago in order to anchor the spinoff Private Practice, but has always remained on great terms with the Grey’s Anatomy production team.
The actress said in 2019 that she “always considered Shondaland my home, and particularly Grey’s.
“That’s where it was just a big important piece of my life, and I love everyone involved on the show.”

Viewers were introduced to Walsh’s Addison at the end of Season 1 when she came on board as Derek’s estrangedd wife.
As cited previously, she departed the cast for her own series in 2007, but continued to make occasional Grey’s Anatomy appearances through Season 8.
ABC then confirmed in September 2021 that the star would be reprising her role on Season 18… following a multi-year absence.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 19, meanwhile, kicks off on Thursday, October 6 at 9 p.m. ET.

“I couldn’t be more excited that we get to keep telling the stories of Meredith, Bailey, Richard and all of the other doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial for another season,” creator Shonda Rhimes said in a statement in January after the show got renewed.
“This is a true testament to [showrunner] Krista Vernoff, the cast, the crew and all the writers who keep the audience on the edge of their seat week after week.
“And it would not be possible without the generations of incredible fans who have supported Grey’s Anatomy for so many years.”

Dana Walden, Chairman of Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, added the following in a statement of her own.
“We have enormous faith in Shonda, Krista Vernoff, Ellen Pompeo and the entire creative team to unlock new, untold stories that will continue to focus on modern medicine, tackle the issues that shape the world around us, and resonate deeply with loyal fans for years to come.”
