'Highlander' Reboot Starring Henry Cavill Still in the Works, According to Director Chad Stahelski

Director Chad Stahelski provided an update on the Highlander reboot, which is set to star Henry Cavill.

The 40-year-old Superman star was first attached to the project back in 2021. If you forgot, the first movie was released in 1986. Several additional movies and a TV show have been released since the original.

More than two years after it was announced that Henry had signed on to the project, Chad opened up about how things were progressing during an interview.

While on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chad confirmed that the project was progressing with Henry still attached.

“I think we have some very good elements now. The trick is when you have the tagline ‘There can only be one’, you can’t just kill everybody the first time,” he teased.

What can fans expect? “I’ll say it for you first, our story engages a lot of the same characters and stuff like that, but we’ve also brought in elements of all the TV shows, and we’re trying to do a bit of a prequel, a setup to The Gathering, so we have room to grow the property.”

Of course, the project isn’t progressing at the moment due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood. Once we learn more, we’ll let you know!

In the meantime, one of the directors on Henry‘s show The Witcher opened up about the actor’s decision to leave the role.
