There’s been some bad news in the ongoing search for missing actor Julian Sands.

The 65-year-old British actor was reported missing in early January after he embarked on a hike of Mount Baldy in Southern California.

Five months later, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that human remains have been discovered near where Julian was last seen.

Police shared a statement on the matter with CNN.

“Civilian hikers contacted the Fontana Sheriff’s Station after they discovered human remains in the Mt. Baldy wilderness,” it reads.

The remains are being actively investigated, and an identification could be made within the coming week.

The hunt for Julian has been slow due to inclement weather in the area. Police explained that even with improving conditions “portions of the mountain remain inaccessible” and that there are spots with “10 plus feet of ice and snow.”
