Hillary Clinton has been spoofed on Saturday Night Live for years now. She’s even gotten in on the joke before by co-signing Kate McKinnon‘s impersonation of her ahead of the 2016 election.
However, the 75-year-old former Secretary of State hasn’t always been happy with the show. In fact, she once reached out to creator Lorne Michaels to complain about a sketch.
One of the comedians involved explained why in a recent interview.

During an appearance on Dana Carvey & David Spade‘s Fly on the Wall podcast, Michelle Sweeney recalled that her impersonation of Hillary and former President Bill Clinton‘s daughter Chelsea did not go over well.
David recalled that the 1993 sketch led to Hillary reaching out to Lorne because it “rubbed [her] wrong.”
Michelle explained: “People were saying how unattractively I was playing Chelsea and all I did was not wear makeup and put braces on. If you say that, you’re saying I’m unattractive,” via ET.
“I wasn’t trying to play her unattractive,” she said. However, Michelle understood where the politician was coming from, “especially now that I’m a parent.”
She explained, “It’s like, yeah f-ck off. I mean, don’t play kids. That was wrong. She was right, that was wrong.”
Last year Chelsea revealed if she had any political ambitions.
