Jack Wagner is opening up about the romantic storyline he gets this season on When Calls The Heart.

Fans of the show will know that Jack‘s character, Bill Avery, isn’t unlucky in love, but it just seems to pass him by.

Over the course of 10 seasons, Bill has only had a few possible romantic entanglements (which include Abigail Stanton, among a few others). But this season, it changes.

During a moderated chat with the cast of the show, Jack opened up about his excitement for the story arc, where Bill finds himself very drawn to a newcomer in town, Madeline St. John played by Stefanie von Pfetten.

“It happens,” he excitedly shared on the video. “It happens! There’s a smokin’ hot blonde that comes to town and he goes for it. What can I say?”

Jack added he really loves “the way that they’ve written it. It has a lot of different layers to it. I get advice from Kavan’s character, from Erin.”

He went on, saying that Bill’s health and heart, take a turn this season.

“So Bill, we’ve seen him a bit verklempt in this season and at a crossroads in terms of, you know, is he really going to change his life. He’s a bachelor and the way this character and, actually, her son … has got a lot of mystery to it, which I think is the best part,” he says. “It’s mysterious, it’s a bit dangerous, but yet we see him open his heart and actually feel romance for the first time in quite a while.”
