Ke Huy Quan
Ke Huy Quan immediately burst into tears when his name was called for Best Supporting Actor — and the former child star then had the entire audience in tears as he reflected on his career, saying:
“My journey started on a boat. I spent a year in a refugee camp. And somehow, I ended up here on Hollywood’s biggest stage. They say stories like these only happen in the movies. I cannot believe it’s happening to me. This– this is the American dream. Thank you so much.”
The Daniels
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert took home the award for Best Directing and Best Original Screenplay. While accepting the first award, Scheinert sent love to “the mommies in the world” while also bashing anti-drag laws. Meanwhile, Kwan said:
“There is greatness in every single person, it doesn’t matter who they are. If you have a genius that is waiting to erupt, you just need to find the right people to unlock that.”
