Jared From Subway Doc Reveals Sickening Sexual Comments Infamous Sandwich Spokesperson Made About Kids

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

We’ve been covering the shocking story behind Jared Fogle‘s sickening crimes as told in the new Investigation Discovery documentary series, Jared From Subway: Catching a Monster.

As Perezcious readers will recall, late last week, two victims spoke candidly about the former Subway spokesperson’s awful child pornography and sexual abuse proclivities prior to his conviction on charges of sex crimes involving minors. Now, more content from that docuseries has been released — and it’s absolutely awful.

In the documentary, journalist Rochelle Herman is interviewed about the activities leading up to Jared’s arrest and eventual conviction. For years, while she worked at a Sarasota, Florida television station, the whistleblower documented conversations she had with him about underage girls. All this came about after a shocking admission he made to her about how he found middle school girls to be “hot” during one of their initial chats.

Herman had no evidence to go to police with after that initial moment piqued her suspicion. But slowly, she began recording her phone calls with Jared. As he became more comfortable with her, he shared darker and more disturbing thoughts. In the doc, Herman explained her goal with the ongoing conversations:

“I gave the appearance I was somebody he could confide in.”

Initially, Jared invited Rochelle back to his hotel room. Once there, he allegedly asked her to put her hair in pigtails. She was immediately thrown off by the request, and left. She kept in touch with Fogle, though, and began to ask him more about sexual fantasies he was having.

When she asked him once during a long-distance phone call about why he felt so attracted to young people, the ex-Subway spokesperson allegedly replied:

“They just have such nice, pure bodies, you know?”

And when Rochelle asked “how young” he wanted them to be, the weight loss guru replied:

“I don’t know, middle school or whatever.”

Pressing for more, Rochelle asked if a 9-year-old would be acceptable, to which Jared responded:

“Yeah, that’d be hot. That’d be really hot.”

Vomit…

By that point in their long-distance phone call relationship, Herman had gone to the FBI to report on Fogle’s comments. The words alone couldn’t get an arrest warrant, though. However, the law enforcement bureau asked her to keep recording in a bid to keep tabs on Jared’s activity.

During one call, she asked Fogle about the youngest person he’d ever been with, and the public figure replied:

“I think 11 or 12 … I don’t remember her name.”

When asked about that experience and more supposed sexual dalliances with children, Fogle told her:

“It was definitely Thailand. I would love you to go with me. We can get whatever age we want. It’s just crazy, it’s just easy over there. Different ages. I mean you just sort of choose who you want and there’s a price for it and off you go.”

Absolutely disgusting.

Of course, as Rochelle pointed out to him on the phone, it wasn’t exactly realistic to “go to Thailand all the time.” Fogle agreed:

“No, that’s why I’ve got to find some stuff over here, you know?”

SICK!!!

By 2009, the FBI was intent on doing a sting using Herman’s connection to Fogle as bait. They wanted him to travel to Florida with the “specific intent of having sex with a minor,” as the doc explained. So, Rochelle invited Fogle to Sarasota for her own son’s birthday party! (WTF?!?!)

While discussing the party, Herman claimed Fogle’s comments quickly turned sexual. At one point, she says he asked her:

“Will you do anything I tell you to do? Will you let me see your kids naked? What if we put a camera in your kids’ room? Would they be okay with that? Would you rather have it in your son or your daughter’s room? Which one do you think would be better? Tell me.”

That birthday party ended up not happening, thankfully. And the FBI still didn’t have evidence to arrest Fogle.

Eventually, the bureau looked into his business partner, who was also the head of Jared’s non-profit foundation — another man named Russell Taylor. Soon, they uncovered a series of child pornography links between him and Fogle.

Cops swooped in and arrested both men. Since that time, each has been sentenced to lengthy prison terms, with the former Subway star landing in jail on a 15-year bid. As for Herman, she used the docuseries to explain the awful post-traumatic stress disorder she has suffered since trying to bring him down:

“The toll that working undercover for the FBI had on my health was astronomical. The PTSD that I have experienced because of this has been debilitating. I truly believe that when someone undergoes such a stressful situation for so many years, it makes you susceptible to other things.”

Ugh.
