For months, Kathryn Dennis has been afraid that Thomas Ravenel will take her kids, Kensie and Saint.
Now, her fears have become reality.
The couple has signed a new agreement, which awards primary custody to the disgraced former politician.
All About The Tea got their hands on court documents sharing the grim news.
On Friday, November 1, a document signed by both parties was registered in South Carolina family court.
According to the agreement, they retain a 50/50 split of legal custody of Kensie and Saint.
But primary physical custody is awarded to Thomas.
The agreement has some very faint silver linings.
For example, Thomas has to consult with Kathryn -- a precariously vague stipulation -- on more or less everything about the kids.
That includes but is not limited to their education, extra-curricular activities, religious training, non-emergency healthcare, and general welfare.
However, if the two of them cannot reach an accord, Thomas just gets to override Kathryn and do whatever he wants. Ugh.
Thomas, who of course is a rich man from a rich family, does have to foot the bill for his kids.
That includes him paying for medical insurance, private school tuition, and all extracurricular activities for Kensie and Saint.
He also has to pay child support, and foot the bill for Kathryn's new nanny.
Oh, and she absolutely must hire a nanny.
The agreement stipulates that Kathryn must employ a full time nanny, from 8 AM to 6 PM, on school days when she has the kids.
Kathryn will have the kids every other Thursday afternoon until the following Monday, which is ... not an ideal amount of time to spend with them.
This nanny will have to be vetted by Thomas, which is more than a little sick.
After all, he pleaded guilty to assault and battery against a previous nanny for these same children.
Kathryn and Dennis are not allowed to have any romantic sleepovers while the kids are in their care.
They are forbidden from showing the children any clips of Southern Charm.
Both exes are banned from badmouthing each other in front of the kids, or allowing others to do so on their behalf.
They also cannot disparage each other over social media.
So ... what does all of this mean?
The short version is that, though Kathryn has made some headway in the past couple of years, Thomas .. won.
Kathryn gets to spend about a quarter of every fortnight with her children, while Thomas gets them for the rest of the time.
It sounds like winter break gets a pretty even split, so ... yay?
Why did Kathryn lose? Could it really be that her recent car accidents alone cost her custody?
(If so, we would absolutely beg her to get a driver. The fact that any rich people drive themselves is mind-boggling)
The imbalance in this result has led some Southern Charm fans to believe that Thomas came up with some sort of blackmail to coerce her to sign.
While nothing about Thomas' criminal record or personal history suggests that he'd never do such a thing, we have an alternative theory.
Thomas is the wealthier of the two, and that counts for a lot in court. Also, in most cases of contested custody, the father wins.
