King Charles III made a special change from tradition at Saturday’s Trooping the Colour!
In a sweet nod to Princess Catherine, His Majesty adjusted the lineup for the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony so that he could stand close to his daughter-in-law, who made her official return to public duties over the weekend amid her cancer battle. Normally, Charles would stand closest to his eldest son Prince William.

Addressing the subtle yet meaningful change, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun on Monday:
“What I think the image I think so many people will have is of Catherine standing next to King Charles on the balcony. Here though, that relationship was highlighted to illustrate how those bonds have only deepened and enriched by their bonds of empathy created by their illnesses. This can be interpreted as a gesture of solidarity and support from Charles to Catherine.”
The change wasn’t lost on fans, either, as one spectator wrote online:
“While last year, King Charles stood next to Prince William, this time, the monarch proudly stood next to a beaming Princess Kate. The royal duo appeared more united than ever as they marvelled at the huge crowds trickling down the Mall.”

The in-laws have always been close, but going through cancer treatment at the same time has certainly bonded them even more. So nice to see them together over the weekend — and what a nice and subtle gesture by Charles! Reactions? Let us know (below)!
