King Charles III and Prince William won’t be backing down when it comes to giving Prince Harry what he wants — at least not according to the latest sources.
With the coronation just about 70 days away now, all eyes are on the royal family as the world waits to see if they will (at least temporarily) make amends and join forces for the patriarch’s crowning in May. Unfortunately, those close to the family don’t see a lot of hope moving forward. Speaking to DailyMail.com on Friday, sources described the predicament as a “toxic stalemate,” with one person adding:
“There is still a huge amount of ill will boiling over in the family.”
Uh oh…

According to sources, “save the date” cards are expected to be sent to guests in two weeks. There will only be 2,000 attendees as opposed to around 8,000 that were invited to Queen Elizabeth II’s ceremony. So it’s much more slimmed down! Still, Harry and Meghan Markle shouldn’t be worried, they are supposedly 100% going to be invited, right? That said, earlier this week, Omid Scobie, a journalist close to the Sussexes, said:
“No one knows their plans right now – the couple has yet to be invited and can’t make a decision, nor any form of itinerary, until that happens.’
But people with knowledge of the coronation plans are now clapping back at this excuse, calling it “the Sussexes’ classic get-out clause.” One insider argued:
“As if a piece of gold-embossed card would change everything. The problem goes far, far deeper than that.”
Oof!
Just like we’ve been hearing, another well-placed confidant revealed Harry has made it clear he wants a private “apology” from both his father and brother before he will attend the historic event. Interestingly, Meghan wasn’t mentioned. There has been some speculation that she will skip the coronation and stay home to celebrate their son Archie’s fourth birthday instead (which falls on the same day), but others have claimed she is insulted by this theory.
Either way, the problem is clear: the Archewell founders aren’t going to go if they don’t get an apology and Charles and William aren’t going to apologize. Sooo. What happens next?

According to a friend, His Majesty is prepared to speak to the 38-year-old because “he’s his son [and] he loves him.” But it’s William who is causing the most problems:
“[He is] not in the mood for any kind of conversation.”
Even if Charles agrees to speak with Harry, it’s unlikely he’ll give him a firm apology. Another insider dished:
“What are the family meant to apologise for? As the late Queen said, recollections may vary.”
Even so, it is highly possible Charles will arrange for a conversation between the feuding family members in the coming weeks, according to the source. Like it or not, it will look better for the new monarch if he can publicly reunite his family at the official start of his reign. But a conversation is far from an apology, as the first source explained:
“I don’t think His Majesty is minded to apologise for anything at present. Quite the opposite. There is still a huge amount of ill will boiling over in the family. Conversations could still happen in the next few weeks [over the Sussexes’ attendance], I am sure, but they will be waiting a very long time for an apology. There’s a great deal of hurt [at Harry’s actions].”
Another family friend said of the Prince of Wales:
“I hear that William has no intention whatsoever of apologising and remains incandescent, especially around the way his wife, the Princess of Wales [Princess Catherine], has been treated.”
The Spare author went after several of his family members in his memoir and Netflix documentary, so it’s not hard to see why Willy’s still salty about all the allegations! Not to mention one of the biggest reveals was private text messages shared between the Suits alum and Kate Middleton about the bridesmaid dress scandal. It really didn’t paint Kate in a good light, and now Harry will have to deal with the consequences! Sadly, this may have ruined the brothers’ bond forever:
“The relationship isn’t even rock bottom now, it’s non-existent. And I just don’t see, if Harry were to come to the Coronation, how William could even bring himself to look his brother in the face.”
Jeez…
It seems like no matter what happens, nobody is going to win. It’s going to be so messy either way!! So, what would U rather have happen, Perezcious readers: should Harry go or not? Sound OFF (below)!
