Mark Truzzolino and Key Elisa Bukschtein: It’s Over for Love in Paradise Couple!

Late last year, we took a look at which Love in Paradise: The Caribbean couples are still together.

That was eight months ago. A lot can change in that time.

For one couple, a lot has.

Mark Truzzolino and Key Elisa Bukschtein are over. And their erstwhile marriage did not last long.

Mark is from Huntington Beach, California.

He and Key — who is from Argentina, but lived in Bocas del Toro.

The two reconnected after nearly a decade to give love a chance. For a time, it worked.

Mark and Key were married on October 25, 2021.

That month, their social media posts were filled with mutual affection and couple photos.

By early this year, that had changed.

Suddenly, Mark and Key had purged all of their photos.

Not even couples who are filming new seasons for the show take that step — so fans could not blame an NDA.

What happened?

Well, divorce happened.

Mark and Key filed for divorce on December 15, 2021.

Yes, you did that math correctly.

Years of knowing each other, months of reconnecting, and their marriage lasted less than two months.

In Touch Weekly reports that Mark and Key finalized their divorce last month, on June 17.

With no children or shared assets to divide, they also waived their rights to seek spousal support.

When Mark and Key were living together, they resided in Mark’s hometown — Huntington Beach, California.

Mark still lives there.

Based upon her social media activity, Key appears to be living in Miami, Florida.

We of course do not yet know what caused them to break up.

Sometimes, geography is a huge factor. Other times, the simple act of moving to someone’s home can end a relationship.

In the case of Mark and Key, well, we should remember that they broke up once before.

Nine years before they filmed, the two met in Bocas del Toro, when Mark was working there.

A two-week fling ended with Key’s return to Argentina and plans to enter rehab for her ketamine addiction.

Instead of writing off the relationship, Mark came to support her during her recovery.

Their relationship blossomed … but fell apart after six months.

One factor was that they were living with her family, which is an encumbrance.

But there may have been other issues — problems that came back to haunt them.

One thing that comes to mind, as we mentioned earlier, is geography. It can be a marriage-killer.

Mark did not want to move to Panama. Key was adamant that she did not want to move to California.

Yes, they agreed to move to Huntington Beach on the Season 1 finale of Love in Paradise: The Caribbean … but we see now how that worked out.

90 Day Fiance fans have praised the Love in Paradise: The Caribbean spinoff for couples that seem more “genuine.”

This is a very good reminder that a decade-spanning love story between a pair of very authentic human beings does not guarantee a happy ending.

We would of course love to hear why Mark and Key split. Perhaps, one day, they will tell us.
