It’s hard to imagine why anyone would make a joke glorifying domestic violence, but Draya Michele found herself stumbling to answer that question after a tasteless comment she recently made went viral.
During an appearance on the Wine and Weed podcast, the 35-year-old reality TV star attempted to make light of the July 12 shooting incident which led to Megan Thee Stallion‘s hospitalization and the arrest of rapper Tory Lanez.

When asked for her thoughts on the situation, Michele seemed amused by it and gave a response that alluded to the tumultuous relationship between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, who divorced in 2006 after years of fighting and public controversy.
“I predict that they had some sort of Bobby and Whitney love that drove them down this… type of road. And… I’m here for it. I like that.”
She continued joking about what she’d do in the scenario, adding:
“I want you to like me so much that if I’m trying to get out the car, and you’re like, ‘No, sit your ass in the car,’ and I’m like, ‘No n***a, I’m getting out the car.’ [He’d say,] ‘No you’re not!’ Bam-bam!”
Immediately after, the podcast host said of her inflammatory remarks:
“In this moment, Draya just went viral.”
Um, yeah… except that’s a horrible reason to be trending online. Sometimes, it’s best to just keep some thoughts to yourself! As you can imagine, it wasn’t only Meg’s “Hotties” who were deeply offended by the jab as many fans far and wide criticized Draya for her words.
But it was the Hot Girl Summer artist who dished out the most lethal response of them all! She didn’t even need to tag the VH1 reality TV starlet because it was clear the subtext was about her. She wrote:
“Dumb bitch that s**t ain’t f**king funny who tf jokes about getting shot by a n***a.”
As a reminder, Meg has not yet shared the full details of what went down the night of the shooting, but she told fans they’d get the scoop when she’s good and ready:
Dumb bitch that shit ain’t fucking funny who tf jokes about getting shot by a nigga

And fuck all the hoe ass niggas making jokes about it too🖕🏾 I’ll talk about shit when I get ready

Not too long after talk about canceling the TV personality started gaining traction, Draya hopped on the social media platform to apologize for her comments:
“I truly don’t glorify domestic violence… I was trying to say just love me deeply. But while trying to be funny, I offended many, including meg. And I’m sorry.”
Hmm. Good on her for owning up to this icky mistake, but will it be enough to satisfy fans? The 1,000+ replies to her tweet, including an old photo of the ladies posing together, seem to suggest this might be too little, too late.

Either way, many are more focused on hearing positive updates from Meg in the wake of the shooting. Prior to this brief spat, the Houston-born artist told fans she feels “incredibly grateful” to be alive after undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds she suffered at the scene. She also reflected on how the public has received the news of her injuries:
“Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own. It might be funny to y’all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I’m real life hurt and traumatized.”
We’re taking this just as seriously as you are, gurl! Praying for her full speedy recovery and happier times going forward. Before you go, ch-ch-check out the controversial comments for yourself (below):
