Michael B. Jordan is not the kid he was in high school!
It’s no secret that the 36-year-old actor has risen to the top of Hollywood over the last decade — from starring in award-nominated hits alongside acting legends like Angela Bassett, Sylvester Stallone, Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson, the late Chadwick Boseman, and MANY others, to being known as a Hollywood hunk for his signature, ripped physique — the man is a force to be reckoned with. However, some may always remember him as the “corny” kid from high school.

While appearing at a red carpet event last week for his upcoming blockbuster Creed III, the latest installment in his Rocky spinoff franchise, Michael made the interview rounds — but one reporter in particular caught his attention. Lore’l, host of The Morning Hustle radio show, took a second to reminisce with the Fruitvale Station actor, remembering, “We know each other. We go way back, all the way to Chad Science [Academy] in Newark,” referencing their New Jersey high school. The Just Mercy actor definitely remembered, and took the recollection a step further, adding:
“Oh yeah, I was the corny kid, right?”
Awkwarddd!
This, of course, was in reference to a 2021 episode of The Undressing Room podcast, where Lore’l spoke with hosts Eva Marcille and Dominique Da Diva about his then relationship with Lori Harvey, with Dominique speculating at the time:
“You know what I really think deep down inside? I think that Michael B. Jordan is a nice, corny guy, and I don’t mean that as a slight.”
While Lore’l didn’t technically call Jordan corny herself, she did add:
“We went to Chad Science together in Newark, and to be honest with you, we teased him all the damn time because his name was Michael Jordan. Let’s start there, and he was no Michael Jordan. And he also would come to school with a headshot. We lived in Newark. That’s the ‘hood. We would make fun of him like, ‘What you gonna do with your stupid headshot!?’ And now look at him!”
Who’s laughing now??

Back on the Creed III red carpet, Lore’l defended herself, claiming, “No, you did not hear me say that! I said we used to make fun of the name” but Jordan playfully prodded:
“I heard it. I heard it. It’s all good. What’s up?”
Lore’l gave him his dues, though, ultimately taking accountability for the name-calling:
“But yeah, [you are] obviously killing things out here…you’re not corny anymore.”
