Miley Cyrus Confirms New Single 'Used to Be Young,' Teases Big Interview Special About Her Career

Fans of Miley Cyrus are going to be well fed next week.

The 30-year-old “Wrecking Ball” pop star took to social media on Thursday (August 17) to confirm the impending release of her new single “Used to Be Young.” Fans began expecting that a song was on the way after some teasers started popping up earlier this week.

But that’s not all! She also announced a special called Endless Summer Vacation: Continued (Backyard Sessions), which features a big interview about her past.

“August 25TH. USED TO BE YOUNG,” Miley wrote on Instagram.

The new special will air on ABC Thursday night at 10pm ET. What can fans expect from it? Miley promised “a retrospective interview sharing stories about the first 30 years of my life in honor of U2BY.”

“This song is dedicated to my loyal fans. I love YOU for loving every version of ME,” she wrote, signing it, “Always, Miley.”

This isn’t the first time that the song was teased. Miley previously mentioned “Used to Be Young” during an interview with British Vogue. The conversation featured some of the lyrics: “I know I used to be crazy / I know I used to be fun / You say I used to be wild / I say I used to be young.”

Based on what she said in the interview, the song was seemingly inspired by a track that was presented to her by a writer. “It was like, you know, the standard f-cked up in the club track. And I was like, ‘I’m two years sober. That’s not where I spend my time, you know. You’re more likely to catch me and my friends literally walking through rose gardens or going to a museum,’” she recalled. “It’s not about being self-serious. I’m just evolved.”

Miley isn’t the only pop star who is gearing up to drop a highly anticipated new single next Friday. We’ll also be getting “Single Soon” from Selena Gomez.
