There was a lot of chatter about U.S. President Joe Biden‘s visit with King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Monday afternoon (July 10).
Upon arrival and greeting, the 80-year-old President put a hand on Charles‘ back, which made a lot of royal fans gasp, thinking that he broke royal protocol.
However, he did not.

According to a Buckingham Palace source, via People, they shared that the King was “entirely comfortable” with Biden placing his hand on his back as they headed to inspect the Guard of Honor.
“What a wonderful symbol of warmth and affection it was between both the individuals and their nations,” the source added to the outlet.
No royal protocol was actually broken – not even when President Biden walked ahead of King Charles during the inspection.
Biden and Charles‘ meeting was held with in order to further strengthen the close relationship between the two nations and to discuss climate issues.
The President was noticebly missing from King Charles III‘s coronation just a few months ago. However, his wife, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden was in attendance.
