Wow. After years and a lot of legal back-and-forth, Prince Harry is set to win this battle!
As Perezcious readers know, the Duke of Sussex has been fighting to get his security protections reinstated in the UK, which were stripped from him when he left his home country with Meghan Markle back in 2020. Earlier this month, the Home Office‘s Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) finally agreed to do a new threat assessment — the first in nearly six years. And now, it sounds like a win is on the way for him!
Sources told People on Monday that there is “positive” noise coming from the government regarding this decision. In fact, they’re cautiously optimistic he’ll get his security reinstated!

This comes after a DailyMail.com report on Sunday claimed the review found that Harry meets the criteria to be included in taxpayer-funded security. Whoa! A source close to the Archewell founder said:
“It’s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is nailed on for Harry.”
It’s now believed that — unless there’s some last-minute intervention — Harry will regain the protections he had when he was a working royal. This is huge for him. There’s only one thing that could get in his way: his family!
An insider told the outlet that risk management board members decided he meets the requirements, leaving RAVEC with little choice… unless the royal family steps in:
“The only thing that could scupper his approval now would be an intervention from the Palace.”
Jeez, that would be so s**tty. But as of now, it seems unlikely they’d do such a thing. In fact, it’s more likely King Charles III may have had something to do with this reversal! Or maybe it was Harry’s recent stalker scare that changed minds? Either way, a source close to the Sussexes opened up:
“We aren’t taking anything for granted. Obviously given he’s the King’s son it is the right thing to do, but it’s about everyone being able to save face and the risk management board is the common-sense way to do that.”
This must be a big relief to Harry and Meg since another insider claimed the security risks they face are big:
“If you knew about the kind of threats Harry and his children have been getting then you would understand why he doesn’t want to bring the kids over until police protection is granted.”
That’s horrible. But we’re glad to hear he might be able to travel with the kiddos soon. How exciting!
When asked for comment, his spokesperson declined to say much:
“We can’t comment on security matters.”
Meanwhile, a government spokesperson expressed:
“The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”
What a nice way for Harry and Meghan to start the new year. They must be thrilled!
