Ryan Gosling flexes his muscles in a special new music video, “I’m Just Ken” for the Barbie movie.
In the visual, the 42-year-old actor shows off not only his acting, but singing chops, as Ken, who is very much trying to impress Margot Robbie‘s Barbie throughout the clip, while also musing about what life would be without her in it.
Soundtrack producer Mark Ronson told Variety that Ryan absolutely killed it on the song.
“It was so crazy,” he started. “[Ryan Gosling is] a huge star of this movie and only has three hours on a Tuesday afternoon to cut the vocals. He just went in and as he started to get warmed up I was like, ‘This guy is going to murder this song!’ Of course he would.”
Not only that, but to add a bit more to the “I’m Just Ken” power ballad, Guns N’ Roses‘ Slash was recruited for the amazing guitar moments.
“I’m so psyched. We worked on it for about a year after he did the vocals. After I sent him the final version, with Slash on it, he was psyched and satisfied, which is what you want to do when you’re making a sound for someone,” Mark adds.
Barbie opens in theaters on July 21. Watch the video below now!
