In a shocking announcement, the season finale of the new series is airing on Sunday, July 2. The first season of the show will end after episode five.

Deadline reported that it was originally believed that season one would consist of six episodes, but then there were “creative changes” after the exit of original director Amy Seimetz.
HBO recently responded to a report about The Idol not returning for season two.
