Ike Turner Jr., the son of late singer Tina Turner and her former husband Ike Turner, has been arrested.

According to a report from People published on Wednesday (June 21), Ike Jr. was charged with crack cocaine possession and tampering with evidence in Texas.

He was sentenced to jail just 18 days before Tina passed away at the age of 83 at her home in Switzerland on May 24.

Police pulled Ike Jr., 64, over at a traffic light for a malfunctioning headlight or taillight. In the ensuing investigation, officers seized 1.7 grams of crack cocain as well as .7 grams of methamphetamine.

People adds that at this point, the police noticed Ike Jr. was attempting to consume the other narcotics in his possession. Capt. Q.T. Arendell of the Alvin Police Dept. told the outlet, “He tried to eat the drugs before the officers could seize them from him.”

Ike Jr.‘s passenger, Jessica Salinas-Esquivel, has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamines). The incident report also notes that Ike Jr. had an unrelated outstanding warrant at the time of his arrest.
