Janelle Brown has not uploaded a photo of herself and Kody Brown to Instagram in many, many months.
As we’ve documented often, she takes frequent trips around the country — but never with her spiritual husband by her side.
Does this mean her marriage is on the rocks? Teetering on the cliff of extinction? Near the end of a long run?
Not exactly, according to a new report.
A source allegedly spoke to In Touch Weekly a couple days ago and labeled the relationship between Janelle and Kody as “very respectful,” adding:
“Janelle and Kody have more of a brother and sister relationship.”
Not exactly a ringing endorsement for a future filled with fun and/or romantic times.
But not a death knell for the pair’s connection, either.
Nor should this analysis come as any sort of surprise to loyal Sister Wives viewers.
Back in February, on the show’s most recent tell-all special, Kody couldn’t bring himself to say he was in love with Janelle.
“We’re not in sync,” Kody admitted at the time when pressed by the host to explain where things stood.
“We don’t partner really well, but we actually just are able to have a marriage that’s, if you will, lower in attachment… It’s more of a, like, just a committed relationship.”
Again: Not exactly a ringing endorsement of plural marriage.
When the conversation shifted on this special episode to Janelle, she told the host that Kody was her “best friend” and that their emotional and physical intimacy are just “fine,” implying they still get it on from time to time.
That’s more than can be said for Kody and Meri Brown, who have each said on ai they haven’t slept together in 10 years.
It’s clear Kody and Janelle are not in such a dire place.
But they aren’t in a great place, either.
On November 2, Christine Brown announced she was leaving her long-time spouse, writing online at the time:
“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave.
“We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family.
“At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.”
Janelle and Christine remain close, meanwhile, even working at the same shady weight loss company together.
Months ago, a source claimed to Us Weekly that Janelle was well aware of how happy Christine was with her decision to walk away.
“She sees how happy Christine is now that she’s ‘free’ from Kody and is strongly considering separating from him too,” this outlet wrote in its report.
“Christine and Janelle are very close and they have conversations about it.”
