Ron Cephas Jones‘s former co-stars and friends are taking to social media to remember him after his death.
The Emmy winning actor famously starred in hit shows such as This Is Us. It was announced that he passed away due to a long-standing pulmonary issue at the age of 66 on Saturday (August 19).
After the news broke, tributes to the beloved actor started pouring in, especially from his This Is Us castmates.

Sterling K. Brown played Ron‘s son on the show. He took to Instagram to share a photo of them together.
“Life imitated art today, and one of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us. @cephasjaz has passed away, and the world is a little less bright. Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed. Keep them laughing in the next phase of existence, and I’ll see you when I get there,” he wrote in the accompanying caption.
Mandy Moore shared a message for Ron, which was accompanied by a photo of them from the show.
“Getting to know and work with Ron on the wild ride of ‘This Is Us’ was the greatest gift- he was pure magic as a human and an artist…I will treasure all of the moments forever,” she wrote on Instagram. “Even though he wasn’t around set as much as we all wished, he was such an intrinsic part of the fabric of the show, it’s like he was always there. I’ll never forget how special it was to film this particular episode and welcome him back to say a proper goodbye to our TIU family and the whole experience. I am just so sad. My thoughts and love are with Jasmine and his family and friends. Love you, @cephasjaz.”
Chriss Metz took to Instagram to remember the star.
“Ron, thank you for brightening every room you walked into. I’ll never forget and have been changed by your kind heart, amazing spirit, immeasurable talent and beautiful smile,” she wrote. “May your transition be full of light and peace. Sending all of my love to Jasmine & his loved ones during this time . You are truly the coolest cat🐈⬛❤️🎭”
This Is Us star Chris Sullivan uploaded a photo of the pair laughing together.
“I cannot believe he is gone! It doesn’t seem possible. He was such a generous and compassionate heart. I am so grateful for the time we spent together,” he wrote.
Ron‘s Truth Be Told co-star Octavia Spencer also had kind words and memories to share.
“I’m heartbroken to lose my dear friend and colleague Ron Cephas Jones @cephasjaz. Ron was an incredibly talented actor and, most importantly, a wonderfully kind human being. Every day on set with Ron was a good day. I’m sending all my love to his daughter Jasmine, family, friends and fans,” she wrote on Instagram.
Clyde’s co-star Uzo Aduba also remembered the “titan” on Instagram.
“Ron Cephas Jones. The first time I ever saw this great artist’s work was in a play called The Overwhelming. He was magical, powerful really. I would have the pleasure of sharing the stage with Ron just two years ago,” she wrote.
“So beloved by our community, and a genius with his craft; he would share his wisdom and knowledge about this art we all so deeply, deeply love. But, more he shared with us his heart. Generously. Ever a teacher, we all learned so much from Ron, and we continue to carry his lessons. It is that knowledge that helps me know he will be with us. forever,” Uzo continued. “My prayers and love to his daughter Jasmine who he so loved, his family, and to all who loved ‘the cool cat’ known on this earth as Ron Cephas Jones. May you forever rest, sir.”
Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Ron, especially his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones. The pair were last seen together on the red carpet at the premiere of Clyde’s in 2021.
