Oh no, Martin Short!
Selena Gomez‘s good pal from Only Murders In The Building revealed on Wednesday that he almost ruined her wedding to Benny Blanco! While chatting with Jimmy Kimmel, Martin said he and his castmates were all hanging out at Selly G’s wedding in their own section and having a good time when Steve Martin decided he was about to leave. But one very important thing had yet to happen! Martin explained:
“There was a cake, a wedding cake, by our section, but it was a small wedding cake. I just assumed there was a wedding cake for each section in the back. After a few hours, they haven’t cut their wedding cake yet, Steve said he’s gonna leave. I was like, ‘Oh, wait.’ Maybe I’d had a cocktail. I had a fork in my hand. I said, ‘Steve, you can’t leave yet without a piece of wedding cake!’”
Oh no… You can probably see where this is going.

The 75-year-old comedian continued:
“I cut the wedding cake with one side, cut it the other, and then all the people in our group screamed, ‘Marty!’ It was the wedding cake. I tried to fix it with a fork.”
OH, NO!
Martin said Steve was “so stunned” that he “gained color” — and Paul Rudd even joked about ditching the place by asking if they should “just leave”! LOLz!
But luckily, there was someone on standby who could fix the cake! A chef working the event “did surgery” on it, per Martin, who gave the dessert a new nickname after the fact:
“Hollywood wedding cake in that it was beautiful, but now it had a little work done.”
LOLz! Steve and Martin originally conspired to keep it a secret from Selena, at least for some time — but nothing gets past a bride on her wedding day! Martin explained:
“I kept saying, ‘No, guys, we can’t let Selena know.’ And Steve said, ‘Yeah, maybe we tell her in a month or something.’ And then as I was leaving, Selena came by [and said], ‘Hey Marty, I heard you tried to eat my cake.’”
Ha! OMG!
Too funny! Martin wasn’t kicked out or anything, so we can assume she wasn’t too mad. But we can’t imagine what would’ve happened if that chef hadn’t been there! Watch for yourself (below):
