It sounds like Paris Hilton doesn’t want to be fully known as a nepo baby!
The 44-year-old insists she built her billion-dollar business in music, fashion, skincare, and more all by herself — with no help from any of her family members, which includes her famous parents Kathy and Rick Hilton and aunts Kyle and Kim Richards! When asked how much help she had from her loved ones in an interview with Us Weekly on Wednesday, the Hilton Hotels heiress fired back:
“I haven’t gotten anything since I was 18. I’ve been working since I was 16. I did everything on my own.”
Paris may not have received any handouts and worked hard to build her empire, but we all know her last name has helped her quite a bit along the way! She can’t deny that!

The Stars Are Blind singer did recognize she is “very privileged.” However, she also insisted she wasn’t just “handed everything” like others who come from money:
“I’m very privileged [to have come] from a family where I’ve been able to learn so much from such incredible businessmen and women. But I’ve seen a lot of people who come from prestigious families, and… they’ve never worked a day in their life, and I’ve seen how unhappy they are. They have no fulfillment in life because they’re just handed everything.”
And she wants to make sure her two children, 3-year-old son Phoenix and 2-year-old daughter London, whom she shares with husband Carter Reum, don’t turn out too spoiled and know the value of hard work as she did:
“If you spoil your children, you will destroy them. That’s something that my husband and I talk about. We want to give them the most beautiful life and make them happy, but we also want to instill a work ethic.”
That’s very important! And when asked if “money equal[s] happiness” to her, she referenced the alleged abuse she suffered as a teen at Provo Canyon School, replying:
“It does because I’ve worked so hard, and success has always been a driving force for me. [After] going to those schools, I made a promise that I was going to become so successful that no one could ever tell me what to do again. So I really see it as freedom.”
