Any hopes of figuring out who took Nancy Guthrie through the doorbell camera at her home are potentially out the window.
As you know, Savannah Guthrie‘s mother has been missing since Sunday. Police believe she was kidnapped from her home in Arizona in the early morning hours of that day and are desperately trying to find her. So far, however, they don’t have any “solid leads” in the case. All we know is that law enforcement determined Nancy’s home was a “crime scene” after finding “very concerning” and “suspicious in nature” things — including blood and signs of forced entry.

Although Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he was unaware of any ransom note or knew of a motivation for the abduction at this time, TMZ later revealed they received one via email demanding millions in cryptocurrency to be sent to a legit Bitcoin address with a deadline and a warning of “or else.” The Pima County Sheriff’s Department insisted they know about the reports of “possible ransom note(s)” and “are taking all tips and leads very seriously.”
Beyond that, everyone is left with a lot more questions than answers about what happened to Nancy Guthrie. And we can’t even rely on the front door camera at her home to help solve the mystery. Nanos confirmed in a press conference on Tuesday that the camera at the front door of the residence is missing!
WHAT?! Did her kidnappers take it?
The sheriff noted he doesn’t know if it was purposefully taken, but they are looking into it at this time. He also told NewsNation on Tuesday that his department obtained other cameras from Nancy’s house, but they are still working to extract any helpful footage they possibly captured:
“Those cameras are in our possession, and we’re downloading them and working with a lot of the makers of those cameras, because some of them are server-based, but not cloud-based, and so those things are actively being pursued.”
Hopefully those cameras caught something like her abductors…
At the time of the press conference, Nanos still had no updates on that matter. He went on to tell NewsNation that detectives are also monitoring “license plate readers, intersection cameras, [and] cell phone tower dumps.”
Unfortunately, although Nancy’s neighborhood is filled with Ring doorbell cameras all around, they also likely didn’t capture anything for the case. Jeff Lamie told the Daily Beast that the homes in Catalina Foothills, the neighborhood where the 84-year-old resides, sit on an acre of land, so the doorbell cameras won’t capture any cars or people walking by on the normally dark streets:
“They’re not capturing the information that would be helpful.”
That hasn’t stopped neighbors from scouring over the camera footage anyway, though. Lamie said the community has taken a look, just in case, and has cooperated with law enforcement. He said he even allowed detectives into his own backyard to look for clues. Whether or not they found anything from that search is unknown. Watch the entire press conference (below):
A tip line has been set up: see HERE. The Sheriff’s Department is now offering a reward of up to $2,500 for images, videos, or information that leads to the arrest of a person or people involved in the disappearance.
