Jussie Smollett is firing back after critics compared him to a young student who recently went viral for making up a story about being attacked by her white classmates.
As we reported on Tuesday, 12-year-old Amari Allen came clean after investigators were unable to corroborate her claims three white male students bullied her, held her down as they hurled racial slurs at her, and cut off her dreadlocks at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Virginia.
Understandably, many people were shocked to hear the truth about the incident. And now, some are likening it to how the former Empire star handled his alleged racist and homophobic assault!

The drama started after internet personality Derrick Jackson posted a comment under The Shade Room‘s headline about Allen’s fabricated allegations. He wrote:
“Jussie is really a trendsetter”
The quip clearly insinuates the middle-schooler took a page out of Jussie’s book — and the disgraced actor wasn’t having it!
Smollett, who has been accused of hiring two brothers to stage the attempt on his life back in January, shot back at Jackson, saying:
“With all due respect brother, y’all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I haven’t lied about a thing.Y’all can continue to be misinformed, internalized sheep, who believe what actual proven liars feed you or you can read the actual docs. Either way, Imma be alright. I know me and what happened. You don’t. So carry on. All Love.”
If you’ll recall, the 37-year-old told Chicago PD he was attacked by two masked men — later identified as Abel and Ola Osundairo — as he was walking home from a Subway sandwich shop at approximately 2 in the morning. The openly gay actor alleged his assailants beat him, taunted him with homophobic and racial slurs, and yelled, “This is MAGA country.” Authorities said the star was found with a makeshift noose around his neck when they arrived at his apartment to investigate.
After an extensive, headline-making investigation back in March, police concluded the incident was a hoax orchestrated by the thespian as part of an effort to generate publicity because he was dissatisfied with his salary on the FOX hit show.
Smollett was charged with filing a false police report, but those charges were dropped by Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx a few weeks later. As you’ve probably gathered by now based on this recent IG spat, Jussie continues to maintain his innocence and insist the attack actually happened.
As we mentioned at the top, Allen has since apologized and shared the truth about her story via an official statement issued by her parents on Monday:
“To those young boys and their parents, we sincerely apologize for the pain and anxiety these allegations have caused. To the administrators and families of Immanuel Christian School, we are sorry for the damage this incident has done to trust within the school family and the undue scorn it has brought to the school. To the broader community, who rallied in such passionate support for our daughter, we apologize for betraying your trust. We understand there will be consequences, and we’re prepared to take responsibility for them. We know that it will take time to heal, and we hope and pray that the boys, their families, the school and the broader community will be able to forgive us in time.”
The irony here is… Jussie is right. These two cases are NOT the same!
Unlike the former Jamal Lyon portrayer, young Amari has owned up to her part in the unfortunate situation — although it’s still unclear how she and her parents were able to get to the bottom of it all.
Considering the heaps of evidence lost when the charges against him were dropped, it appears we’ll never really know the whole truth about what happened to the Mighty Ducks alum. All we have is his unwavering word things played out the way they did on that fateful night…
The only sure thing these scenarios have in common is both individuals will be tied to these awful stories for life.
We’re curious, though. What do U think about all of this, Perezcious readers? Do U see any comparison between these stories?
