Love Is Blind Star Bri Defends Controversial Trip With ‘Good Friend’ Devonta, Says It Was Totally ‘Innocent’ & Insists She’s A ‘Girl’s Girl’!

Brianna McNees is ready to talk in depth about one of her biggest controversies on Season 10 of Love Is Blind — the girls’ trip with Devonta Anderson!

The reunion this week brought a lot of jaw-dropping revelations, including that Devonta had a new fiancée and baby on the way. Not only that, he went to Austin for a Rüfüs Du Sol concert with Bri, Ashley Carpenter, and Priyanka Grandhi without telling his first fiancée, Brittany Wicker! Devonta actually LIED, telling her he was heading out for a “work trip!” WTF! The pair called off their wedding at this point, but Brittany thought they were still together. In fact, she kept her ring on at the time. However, Devonta allegedly told the other girls that they had split. And what makes matters worse? None of the women told their supposed friend they were with him, which, of course, upset Brittany during the reunion! As she put it, Bri, Ashley, and Priyanka broke “girl code.”

Now, Bri is defending herself and providing more details about what happened! She appeared on the Off the Vine podcast on Thursday, where she told host Kaitlyn Bristowe that the trip happened in April 2025, two or three weeks after filming wrapped for Love Is Blind. Bri insisted it started as a girls’ trip between her, Ashley, and Priyanka, but then they started talking to “Devo”:

“It was gonna be a girls’ trip, but Devo is a friend of ours, a good friend. And so as we were just kind of chatting like we were like, ‘Yeah, you should come with us.’”

Bri clarified that they also invited Connor Spies, her boyfriend/former fiancé, to the trip. However, he “does not do well on flights” and was “exhausted” from filming the Netflix show, so he apparently opted to stay home instead. The senior merchant then swore the whole thing was totally “innocent,” saying:

“I was seeing girls that I had known from previous stages of life, like college friends. I went to the Rufus concert. Like, to me, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just all hanging out.’ I didn’t see it as a big deal.”

Bri pointed out “the problem” at the end of the day “is that Devo was not honest with Brittany.” She swore she “didn’t know” he told her that he was going on a “work trip,” and didn’t find out about that part until the day of the reunion, when they were all hashing it out. She added:

“Because I was so honest with Connor, and Connor was like, ‘Yeah, go. It’s a girls’ trip, Devo’s going, whatever.’ He trusts me. I didn’t realize that like this was going to be a big deal.”

But at the reunion, Connor didn’t seem to know that Devonta was actually there. Hmm. Bri doesn’t believe Devonta had any ill intent on the trip, and she had no idea Brittany was still wearing her engagement ring at the time. All of that doesn’t change the fact, though, that Bri, Ashley, and Priyanka never mentioned they went on a trip with Brittany’s ex-fiancé! If you are a good friend, you would check in and mention that their ex is going away with you!

To that, Bri claimed she is only “cordial” with Brittany — not best pals like she is with Devonta. She is also “hurt” that Brittany brought up the drama at the reunion and not before:

“I was really confused about the whole situation. And what really shocked me, and this is what bothers me, I thought Britney and I were cordial, right? We’re fine, like we don’t have to be best friends. But she has had so many opportunities to bring that up to me as an issue. Whether it was like we’ve had girls’ nights at Jess’s house, or like we’ve had little meetups at the bar, and her and I went to LA and did a whole press day together. She didn’t mention it once that this was an issue. She holds it to the reunion, and that’s what hurt me. I was like what are you trying to do with this? And that was like these people who say they’re girls’ girls, I was like why are you trying to stir the pot right now? I’ve literally gone a whole press day sitting next to you on the couch in LA. We stay, we got drinks after everything. You could have been like, ‘Hey, hold me accountable if it hurts your feelings.’ Hold me accountable and say, ‘Hey, that really hurt me when you did that.’ And then talk about it.”

When Kaitlyn mentioned how the producers likely told Brittany to wait, Bri fired back:

“But come on. Like, if we’re trying to be girls’ girl here, why would you want to like make me look like an idiot?”

She then went on to say that despite what happened here, she is a “girls’ girl” — to her inner circle, at least:

“You know, this whole topic of girls, girls, I’m glad we’re on it because it’s something that also bothers me because it is shocking to hear that about myself because my girls back home, they’re like, I honestly would say you are the most girl’s girl. Like the way that you like invest in your friends, and you support all of like their big ideas and are always our cheerleaders. And like what I’ve kind of reflected on is I think that I am very intentional with the circle that I have. And when I have that circle, I go deep. I have ride or dies. Like, I have a crew. And I went into that show, I wasn’t like, I’m going to find 16 best friends. That wasn’t my intention. And so I’m getting knocked for not having these best friends coming out. And I’m like, listen, I support these women. They’re great. Like it takes a lot of guts to go on this show.”

Bri continued:

“Even you know the whole reaction with like the Chris thing that’s going on, and like Amber sitting there like cussing him out. That’s not my – that’s not who I am. I’m not going to go up and be like you, blah blah blah. Like I mishandled it. Should I have been a little bit more direct and abrupt? But I don’t know. It’s hard to evaluate the definition of a girl’s girl because I was like what was I supposed to do?”

Um, how about don’t stand there and let Chris rudely talk not only about Jessica but your own man during the mixer, all while he is also flirting with you! You defend her! That’s what you do! Look, part of being a girl’s girl is having other women’s back — especially when a man disrespected them! It doesn’t matter if you weren’t super close to Jessica then. It’s the right thing to do. You don’t have to take Amber’s approach, but shut it down and walk away instead of listening. When it comes to the situation with Brittany, should Devonta have been honest with her? 100 percent! He definitely shouldn’t have lied and is in the wrong! At the same time, that doesn’t mean the three girls are totally innocent here. They really should have said something to Brittany, too. Even to just check on her since Devonta supposedly told them that the two had broken up!
