New and deeply troubling details are emerging about the alleged incident involving reality TV star Jenelle Evans’ teenage son Jace and her mother (his grandmother), Barbara Evans.
And after hearing what was said in the newly released 911 call from the incident that took place back in late February, it’s hard not to feel the weight of just how serious and frightening this situation must have been behind closed doors at the home, during what has been described as a potential murder-suicide threat.
According to audio obtained by Us Weekly on Monday from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in Jenelle’s home state of North Carolina, Barbara sounded shaken and desperate as she pleaded for help.
Right from the start, her words painted a chaotic and heartbreaking scene unfolding inside her home. Per that news outlet, she said in the call:
“My grandson is on probation. He is destroying my house. He had a gun to his head … and I’m up here.”
Just imagine hearing that from a grandmother calling for emergency help.
It only got more distressing as the call continued, with Barbara describing behavior that clearly left her terrified:
“He’s screaming at me. He’s trying to hurt me.”
Oh, no…
There’s no glossing over how serious that sounds.
Through tears, Barbara then reportedly begged authorities to intervene before things escalated even further:
“Come out and talk to me. … He [Jace] will destroy the rest of my house.”
Sheesh. It’s especially sad to process knowing the long and complicated history the Evans family has had in the public eye.

As we’ve been reporting, Jace was apparently placed in a mental health facility following the incident, which took place amid him allegedly being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Meanwhile, the situation has spilled into the legal system. Barbara recently filed motions related to custody, though her request for emergency custody was denied. A temporary hearing is still expected, and it sounds like this story is far from over.
For now, what lingers most is the raw fear captured in that 911 call, and it should serve as a stark reminder that beyond the reality TV fame and tabloid coverage, there are real people facing very serious struggles.
