Sending all of our well wishes to Dean Unglert right now!
The former Bachelor in Paradise star took a terrible fall while skiing in Switzerland this week, breaking several bones and eventually needing surgery! The popular reality TV star updated fans and followers on his Instagram page Monday, and even though it looks like he’ll make a full recovery, talk about scary!

The 28-year-old revealed it had been a lifelong dream of his to ski the Swiss Alps, and by the time he got there this week he was maybe a little too excited careening downhill. At one point, he took “a nasty spill” which knocked him out of commission and put him in a hospital bed (pictured from his IG post, above).
He also described exactly what happened in that same IG post, writing:
“all my life i’ve dreamt about skiing the swiss alps. how could you not? they’re huge and beautiful and have some of the best snow in the world. today, however, was not my day. i was sending just a liiiiitle too hard and took a nasty spill which ultimately put me here. and since this is probably going to be the only pic i get in switzerland, i figured i gotta post it.”

He continued, revealing his injuries were so serious he was actually airlifted off the mountain and straight into surgery, all in less than an hour:
“the swiss mountain rescue blew my mind today. it took me about an hour to flag someone down for help but once i did, i was airborne and in surgery in less than an hour. a dislocated hip and fractured femur put 4 screws and a plate in my leg but things could have been so much worse and for that i am extremely grateful!
looks like i’ll be celebrating xmas in a hospital bed this year 😂”

It’s surprising to see how upbeat he is, for one, but it’s nice to know he’s recovering well after this super-scary ski accident. Not the most ideal thing to have happen for Christmas!

Unglert’s girlfriend, fellow BiP star Caelynn Miller-Keyes, doesn’t appear to have been with him on the trip. Other show alums, like Jared Haibon and Adam Gottschalk, took to the comments section to share their well wishes for Dean to recover quickly after the brutal injuries.
Here’s hoping he recovers fully and can get back out there soon enough. This could have been much, much worse!
