Ariana Grande is the queen of ponytails, thigh-high boots, and oversized sweatshirts… and what about it?!
We’re paraphrasing but that’s basically what the 7 Rings songstress had to say in response to critics who slammed her repetitive outfit choices on social media this week. Apparently, after a few years in the biz, some people are still really bothered by the pop star’s signature look!

Things got particularly heated on Wednesday on Twitter when one fan wrote:
“She’s been wearing the same boots/long shirt Combo for years….. we need the insta baddie
Ari def had her defenders, as a fan immediately shot back:
“I really don’t want her to look like every other I Can’t Believe It’s Not Kylie”
Oh, do a ton of young women on Instagram try to look like Kylie Jenner, we hadn’t noticed…
But the disgruntled critic wasn’t having any of it, arguing:
“she could easily stand out without wearing the same 2 outfits luv”
Shots Fired!
Ari was quick to hop into the conversation to defend herself, her art, and her distaste for taking photos. In full, her clap back reads:
“thank god i’m a singer then 😭 gimmeee a break i don’t like having my photo taken, i escape the paparazzi almost every time i never post photos that aren’t on stage but s**t i promise i have cute ass clothes 🥺 cuter than this f***in candy jacket i-“
Well, she makes a good point!
Have you guys checked out Ari’s IG feed lately? It is full of stage photos and scores of black-and-white filtered shots that consistently fit the aesthetic she described. It’s her thing!
Plus, y’all remember when Grande put out that bold set of photography rules ahead of her Sweetener world tour last year, which granted her in-house company GrandAriTour, Inc. the rights to own and distribute any pictures to publications as long as they’re approved? And who can forget when she was accused of diva-like behavior for requesting to be captured from her left profile only? Yeah… she’s always been particular in this department.
However, another Arianator chimed in to say the singer’s fanbase just wants the best for her and desperately would like to see her switch things up a bit!
To which, Pete Davidson‘s ex-fiancée replied:
“PERIODDDDD 😭😭 i already know but also i’m never even seen like ever, i promise i look cute over here in my own world. i haven’t even been able to put on a pair of f***in boots lately because of the traumatic image i have in my head of these uh …. tik tok “performers”
Hmm. So, is this why we aren’t treated with a glimpse of those fresh outfits she supposedly rocks behind closed doors? Because it’ll give TikTok performers more material to emulate her with?? Well, that’s one way to look at it.
Either way, we best get used to this because it doesn’t sound like the artist will change her ways anytime soon.
Last year, her longtime stylist Law Roach told People his client’s look is “iconic” and plays a huge part in shaping her public image — even if it’s a little stale for some.
“This is the DNA of the Ariana look. She’s made these elements iconic.”
Here’s a question for our fashion-savvy Perezcious readers: what style change would YOU like to see from Ariana? Should she stay on brand? Should she just wear what’s comfortable for her?? Sound OFF with your thoughts in the comment section (below)…
