Chase Rice Slams ‘The Bachelor’ Producers For Setting Him Up In Scene Involving Ex-Girlfriend!

The Bachelor producers are known for stirring up juicy drama and using clever editing to tell whatever story they want, often at their contestants’ expense. But according to one unhappy participant on Monday night’s episode, they finally might have taken things too far!

No, this new complaint did not come from one of the remaining women vying for pilot Peter Weber‘s heart — although, plenty of ’em have reasons to be pissed about the way this season is going so far. (Ahem, the madness of #ChampagneGate cannot be forgotten.)

Instead, country music artist Chase Rice has got a bone to pick with Bachelor Nation after he was the featured musical act during an awkward, one-on-one date which involved his ex-flame, Victoria Fuller.

In case you missed it, here’s what went down: Victoria and Peter spent the afternoon at an amusement park before joining a private concert (complete with adoring fans) set up for them nearby. Victoria then freaked out like any woman in her situation would once she realized Rice was the performer. The girl was completely blindsided!

During an appearance on the Fitz and the Morning radio show which aired Friday, the 34-year-old country crooner spilled the tea about his experience on the ABC reality show.

He began by explaining his previous relationship with Fuller, noting:

“We spent a night together in Charlotte, she’s a cool chick, from what I know of her. You know, I got no problem with her. I got no problem with him. You know, I knew she was going on the show.”

Despite already knowing Victoria was going to be on The Bachelor, Chase said he was still “pretty surprised” to see her that specific night. The artist explained he spoke with his team about promoting his music on the show but also expressed concern about potentially crossing paths with his ex:

“So I told my manager and my publicist, they were like, ‘don’t even worry about that. They’re not going to do that to you, that’s a weird coincidence, but they’re not gonna — there’s no way they would do that to you. They’ve never brought somebody else in like that, surprised the guest on the show.'”

Welp. Never say never!

Rice told the outlet he had no idea he’d actually be serenading Peter and Victoria that night:

“So the fact they did that to me, it’s over the top, it’s unnecessary, I didn’t expect it. But at the end of the day, it happened. I don’t know if it’s the producers, or if they just got lucky. I know what I think, but I’ll let everybody else figure out what they think.”

He continued:

“I was just going on there to try to promote Lonely If You Are and Eyes on You and I wanted absolutely nothing — if there’s anything I ever wanted, it’s to have nothing to do with the drama of that show.”

Well, there is a silver lining in all of this. Now, millions of viewers know who the hell Chase Rice is! Sorry, we had to!

Fuller, for her part, did end up telling Weber about their past during the latter half of their date together:

“I think it would be really unfair to you if I didn’t tell you.The end part was a little weird for me… Chase and I used to date. We dated but I broke it off with him because his lifestyle doesn’t really match up to what I want. I knew that I wanted to give this a try with you.”

Fans of the show have been living for the drama on Twitter. However, Victoria is shaping up to be a frontrunner this season, so for her sake, we hope the producers give her a little break!

The Bachelor airs every Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC!
