Lucy Hale is finally letting herself enjoy the perks of being single!
The Pretty Little Liars alum, who graces the cover of Cosmopolitan’s March 2020 issue, told the mag she’s nothing like her CW character Katy Keene, the happy-go-lucky optimist she portrays in the upcoming Riverdale spin-off.
In fact, the 30-year-old has a history of being drawn to “damaged” types. But thankfully, that’s a habit she’s since grown out of — along with the fear of being single!

She explained to the glossy:
“When I was younger, I was constantly wanting to be with or date someone because I was so deathly afraid of being single or by myself. Now, I’m at the point where if I meet someone, they better really elevate my life, because I love being single.”
All Hale!
Before embracing singledom and raising her standards in potential partners, the starlet admitted she was drawn to people who weren’t necessarily the healthiest to be around. She explained:
“I used to be really drawn to, like, damaged people who had been through some s**t. Now, I’m like, You can be nice but not boring. Nice but not a dud.”
Because while she may enjoy being single, gurl is still (casually) looking for her next potential love interest. Hale revealed she’s on a dating app — one so exclusive, she couldn’t even name it — and has been swiping, so to speak, on other famous faces.

But sadly, even pretty little celebs like Hale face rejection on such apps. She dished:
“John Mayer is on [the app.] And I pressed yes for him, but I don’t think he pressed yes for me.”
When the outlet pointed out that dating Mayer could lead to its own set of problems, she responded:
“I’m so drawn to musical talent, I don’t care.”
Hit up Diplo then, gurl. We hear he’s always DTF (and not too damaged)!
Hale added that making peace with single life has also made her realize some of the things she thought should be saved for relationship, she can do herself.
For example:
“Okay, so I’ve wanted that Cartier Love bracelet for a long time. But I was like, Oh, I need to wait for someone to buy it for me. Now, my friends are like, ‘No, you buy it yourself.'”
Live your best life, Lucy!
