Ben Affleck Wants A ‘Deeply Meaningful’ Relationship — But He’s NOT On Dating Apps!

Ben Affleck is opening up quite a bit about his personal life — including his dating habits!

The 47-year-old actor is busy promoting his new movie The Way Back, and along with the basketball-themed sports drama he’s making the media rounds to talk about his love, life, and career. Friday morning meant part two of his Good Morning America interview with Diane Sawyer, during which the film star opened up more about his current romantic life after splitting from wife Jennifer Garner in 2018.

For one, the Argo director isn’t too keen on using apps to find love; he tells Sawyer he’s not on any dating apps right now, saying (below):

“I am on no dating [apps]. No Tinder. Grindr. Bumble. Humble. I am not on any of them. I don’t have judgment for people who are, great. I know people who are on them and have a fun time but that’s not me.”

Interesting! So no swiping right to run into Ben on the Raya app, then either, huh?! Ha!!

Even without the apps, though, it’s very clear he’s looking for something serious — he downright admitted it to Sawyer during their chat:

“I would love to have a relationship that is deeply meaningful and one to which I could be deeply committed.”

Wow! Nice!

Speaking about his romance-free life right now, the Good Will Hunting star also admitted something we pretty much already knew — that he had major regrets about the way things ended with Garner in 2018.

As he told the GMA host, he wishes things could’ve turned out differently:

“There are things that I would love to go back and change. I have regrets. I have made plenty of mistakes, some big some small. I wish I could go back in time and change all kinds of things but I can’t.”

No kidding… can’t turn back time!

There are good aspects to his life, though! Namely, his three children — Violet, 14, Seraphina, 11, and Samuel, 7 — who he’s come to enjoy being a chauffeur for as they take part in after-school activities:

“If it is one of my days with the kids I pick them up at three and usually they have soccer or swim meet, enough stuff so your time is mostly taken up as chauffeur.”

Awwww! Fun!

Interestingly enough, Affleck also opens up about religion in the interview, admitting he’d like to find some kind of spirituality or faith to help him along his path:

“I’d like to find some sort of sense of meaning and purpose. I was not raised religious. I am not a very good Christian, although I go to church with my kids because it was important to Jennifer and now I go too and I like it.”

Wow! Who knew…

And he also spoke about his long history battling depression — which has been going on now for more than two decades — and how it relates to his health:

“I get depressed. I take antidepressants. They are very helpful for me. I’ve taken them since I was 26 years old various different kinds and I switch and try this or that. Often times they won’t tell you about some awful side effects and you come back and say, ‘Why am I 60 pounds heavier?’ And they are like, ‘Oh you gained a little weight.'”

Even with all these battles that he continues to fight, though, Affleck remains optimistic about the future, even seeing himself in a happy place five years from now:

“Five years from now Ben Affleck is sober and happy and sees his kids three-and-a-half days a week and has made three or four movies that are interesting to him, and directed two [movies] that he is hopefully proud of and is in a healthy, stable, loving, committed relationship.”

Awww! That’s sweet!
