Amy Schumer Had To Change Her Son Gene’s Name & The Reason Why Is Kind Of Hilarious!

Dirty humor comes so naturally to Amy Schumer, she didn’t even realize she was using it when naming her son Gene!

On the latest episode of her podcast, Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith, the Trainwreck star revealed she and her husband Chris Fischer had to change their 11-month-old son’s name because they just recently realized how it sounded when said out loud.

She explained to her longtime friend Claudia O’Doherty:

“So do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed? It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer but we realized that we by accident named our son, ‘genital.'”

LOLz!

While it took the couple almost a year to come to the punny realization, others had apparently already put “Gene” and “Attell” together — namely, her bestie’s mom.

Claudia said:

“My mom pointed that out to me actually. My mom was like, ‘Amy’s called her son genital.’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And then, she was right.”

Hmm… probs should’ve given her a heads up, gurl!

As fans know, Amy’s second pregnancy journey has been no joke. Over the past few months, the starlet has been opening up about the process of undergoing in-vitro fertilization treatments, which is a process of fertilization where an egg and sperm are combined outside the body, to give Gene a sibling.

In a message to fellow “warrior women” on a similar path, the 38-year-old shared in a recent Instagram post:

“Hey! So ivf went like this for us. They retrieved 35 eggs from me. Not bad for the old gal right? Then 26 fertilized! Whoah right? For all of those we got 1 normal embryo from that and 2 low level mosaic (mosaic means there are some abnormal cells but can still lead to a healthy baby) So we feel lucky we got 1! But what a drop off right?”

The Emmy winner went on to thank her followers for texting in their IVF stories after she asked them to, telling them that reading others’ journeys has “empowered and supported” her. She wrote:

“Anyway I have so appreciated everyone sharing their Ivf stories with me. They made me feel empowered and supported. So I wanted to tell you how mine went down. So many women go through many rounds of ivf which is painful and mentally grueling. I heard from hundreds of women about my their miscarriages and struggles and also many hopeful stories about how after rounds and rounds of ivf it worked!! It has been really encouraging. Thank you.”

Good luck with your second pregnancy, momma — and maybe say the kid’s name out loud a few times before you land on one!
