WATCH Sandra Bullock’s Daughter Laila Make A Rare Appearance To Thank A Nurse Fighting On Frontlines Of COVID-19

Grab a box of tissues for this one because we’re still emotional after Sandra Bullock made a heartwarming appearance on Friday’s Red Table Talk‘s Mother’s Day episode!

The Blindside actress joined hosts Jada Pinket Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones as they surprised a nurse working on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic. But to make the moment even more special, Sandra brought her 8-year-old daughter, Laila, along for the special cameo, which is really a treat as she’s normally so private about her family!

The group came together via video chat to thank a nurse manager named April Buencamino, a mother of two young daughters who has been working the COVID-19 unit at California’s Adventist Health White Memorial. Bullock donated 6,000 N95 masks to the local Los Angeles hospital late last month and brought Laila, her 10-year-old adopted son Louis, and boyfriend Bryan Randall as she dropped them off.

The ladies at RTT thought it would be a sweet idea to give Sandra a chance to virtually meet Buencamino and personally thank her for her service since they didn’t cross paths when she made the donation. Bullock fought back tears as she said:

“April, thank you — I’m going to try to say this without crying, thank you for everything that you’re doing because we get to sit here and be home with our families because you are out there doing the hard, hard, hard work. There is not a dinner and a grace that goes by without us sending you the love and the appreciation and the gratitude that we as a family have because we are safe. I thank you so much.”

But then Laila asked to come on camera and deliver her own message of gratitude, saying:

“Thank you, April, for doing everything for everyone. Stay safe and your family.”

Awww! Just look at the big smiles on everyone’s faces! And how adorable is Laila?!?!

The 55-year-old actress said when it came to choosing hospitals she wanted to help during this difficult time, she looked for hospitals that “represent my family.” She explained:

“You know, like everyone else you sit at home and you feel like your hands are tied because you can’t do anything. We were given the names of several hospitals, and April’s hospital was one of the main ones, and that’s the first place we put masks on the kids and gloves and rolled on down there and deposited so they can see firsthand the first responders and see how hard it is right now.”

Now, that’s how you use your celebrity status for good instead of just complaining about being bored, or worse, while in quarantine. Not to mention, Sandra used the charitable move as a valuable teaching moment for her kids while she was at it! Bravo.

Pinkett Smith later shared that the Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation will be donating $50,000 to Buencamino’s hospital and that their family will personally pay for a vacation for the hardworking nurse and her family since she missed her planned birthday trip. OK, we’re not crying, you’re crying…
