Court Docs: Lisa Marie Presley’s Estranged Husband Fears She’ll Relapse After Son’s Tragic Death

Lisa Marie Presley‘s estranged husband is concerned she might hurt herself or have a drug relapse in the wake of the fallout after her son Benjamin Keough‘s tragic death.

Michael Lockwood, 59, who shares twin 11-year-old daughters Harper and Finley with the only child of late superstar Elvis Presley, filed court docs with the Superior Court of the State of California on Thursday, July 23rd. In those docs, he expressed concern for Presley’s potential relapse into unhealthy behaviors, and called for full custody of the two twin girls as a potential solution that could work for the time being.

Lockwood, 59, filed the court docs in the custody injunction on Thursday, in a bid to mitigate what he sees as potential tragic fallout from Keough’s death earlier this month. In the legal documents, the estranged husband’s legal team writes of the man’s embattled one-time wife (below):

“On July 12, 2020, Petitioner’s son shot and killed himself in Petitioner’s home (although Petitioner was not there at the time). With all due sympathy and respect, this creates a new and unaddressed twofold problem: the safety of the children and the greater likelihood of Petitioner to relapse into drug or alcohol dependency.”

Lockwood’s documents continue on from there, too, noting that there was “at least one gun” at Lisa Marie’s Calabasas, California home at the point when Keough killed himself.

Further than that, the possible presence of future guns was highly concerning to the father:

“…it is unclear where the gun was kept or whether Finley and/or Harper might have had access to this gun or others. Thus, there is significant high risk to the safety of the children which would ordinarily justify 100 percent physical custody to Respondent at this time in such circumstances. … there is a greater possibility [that the twins] might think about suicide or attempt it, in light of their half brother’s suicide.”

Wow…

Further concerned that the famous and mourning mother may not be able to provide the safety and structure the two girls need due to her own mindset and grief, Lockwood went all the way from there, adding:

“It would not be surprising [for Lisa Marie] to relapse into drug or alcohol use despite her alleged three years sober.”

Wow. Talk about a serious court filing that really seeks to go after custody during a difficult time, ya know?

Of course, Lisa Marie’s rep previously released a statement on July 12 that she is “entirely heartbroken, inconsolable, and beyond devastated” over her son’s death, so we can’t even begin to imagine the level of grief and pain she’s experiencing now with all that. Lockwood’s petition to the court certainly seems to complicate things, though.
