Looks like it’s the beginning of the end for Ellen DeGeneres — or as some upset staffers have been calling her: “Talk Show Karen”!
OMG THAT IS AMAZING!
According to DailyMail.com, production sources say that disgruntled employees who worked in the alleged toxic environment of The Ellen DeGeneres show have started to call the famous host “Talk Show Karen” as they discuss the recent drama.
The insider explained:
“Who would’ve thought that one of America’s most loved personalities would morph into America’s most famous Karen? There’s no way anyone on staff wants Karen and her band of toxic executives to return.”
Damn!
For those who don’t know, “Karen” has become a term to describe an entitled or problematic white woman, but even the most obnoxious Karens we’ve reported on pale in comparison to the perceptions of the daytime queen, whom ex-staffers, ex-producers, and even former GUESTS say is the source of the toxic environment on her show that she recently claimed to know nothing about.

Meanwhile, another insider from Telepictures, the production company behind the long-running daytime program, told the outlet that WBTV bosses are already looking for potential replacements for the show — and a certain late night Brit is not among them.
No, their list of dream replacements reportedly includes Sean Hayes, Kristen Bell, Melissa McCarthy, and “the ultimate A-lister” Jennifer Aniston. The source explained:
“All four have global name recognition and their own following. They are all genuinely warm and could carry an Ellen-less show.”
That’s for sure! We mean, who wouldn’t watch The Jennifer Aniston Show!?
Of course, production is also taking their top picks’ busy schedules into consideration. The source continued:
“Sean [Hayes] is currently the front runner as he has availability and he has proven successful when he has guest hosted Ellen in the past.”
Hey, we’d watch that, too!
The source went on to shut down rumors that late night star James Corden would be replacing Ellen, noting that the British comedian has a “long term deal” with CBS — and has a notoriously icy reputation himself!
The confidant dished:
“James Corden is definitely not under consideration as he has a long term deal with CBS and if he was interested in a daytime show, CBS would develop one for him. Regardless, he’s busy enough in late night so it’s not going to happen. The lesson for a post-Ellen world is to have someone who is genuinely nice and likable.”
OUCH! If you didn’t catch that shade in the word “genuinely” in reference to Corden, you may have missed out on a lot of social media chatter over the past couple days in which people have anonymously been posting their not-so-likable exchanges with the Late Late Show host out in the wild.
While the future of The Ellen DeGeneres Show is still up in the air, the source made one thing clear: the program “won’t work” in its current form.
They spilled:
“It’s funny how history repeats itself. Many of us remember when Rosie O’Donnell was the queen of nice. Look how that turned out. She wasn’t! Ellen is Rosie 2.0. Everyone now knows that she is not what she sold herself as. She’s just mean, mean, mean. If Ellen does walk, we have less than six weeks to keep our clearances (time periods) and build a new show around a new host with new show runners. Otherwise NBC could take the time slots back and up Kelly Clarkson a show that they own… Our show in its current form won’t work. The Ellen production staff and Warner Bros’ executives lost faith in the three executive producers of the show and Ellen. This is a PR nightmare that you can’t recover from.”
That’s an understatement!
As we reported, the show was hit with another wave of scandal last week when several former employees launched sexual misconduct accusations at three show producers, which Ellen allegedly “turn[ed] a blind eye” to. This came weeks after a handful of ex-staffers accused three exec producers — Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly, and Andy Lassner — of “bullying.”
DM’s recent source said “the four of them are now radioactive and can’t take the show forward for another season. The whole brand proposition of ‘nice’ has blown up.” The source added that they’re hoping Ellen and the problematic producers exit and WBTV installs a new host with new execs.
We’ll have to see what happens!
Until then… who do U think would be the best replacement for Talk Show Kare-sorry, we mean… Ellen?
