Miley Cyrus is thriving!
The 27-year-old Wrecking Ball singer officially split from longtime love and now-former husband Liam Hemsworth almost exactly a year ago last August.
A devastating life event to be sure, but you wouldn’t know it to look at her now, as sources close to the Disney Channel alum are amazed at the “whirlwind of change” she’s experienced in such a short period of time, and the way she’s been able to turn it into her best life! Inspiring!

An insider spoke to ET about how the last twelve months has been a “huge year with both tough challenges and big changes for Miley.” But aside from the heartbreaking aspect of splitting from longtime partner Liam, it sure sounds like the pop princess has made things work in her favor over that tumultuous time period, too!
The insider dished on Miley’s quick move to get past Liam, for one, revealing how the former Hannah Montana moved on and never really looked back:
“Miley and Liam spoke very little after their separation and any communication was more about making decisions regarding plans and property. They haven’t been in touch in months and it has been for the best because they have both needed this time to heal and move on.”
That’s key! Looking forward rather than looking back at what you had, or what could’ve been… a winning mindset for Cyrus!
Of course, she had plenty ty look forward to immediately after the split from Liam — what with that brief, wild romance with Brody Jenner‘s ex Kaitlynn Carter.

But even after that inevitably fizzled on the rebound, Miley quickly came to find somebody that really mattered in her life: Cody Simpson.
The insider recounted the optimism and energy quickly blossoming within the two new lovebirds, saying:
“Her divorce from Liam and her new relationship with Cody was a whirlwind of change for her, but in true Miley fashion she has come out on top. Cody is lots of fun and a good friend to Miley. What began as close friends supporting one another during a rough time, blossomed into more. Their relationship was unexpected and became meaningful very quickly, and she couldn’t be happier. They are both very passionate about their music and it’s something that has bonded them.”
Awww! That’s so sweet!
It’s interesting, too, because as it turns out, Miley’s personal decision to remain sober following a vocal cord surgery last November may have actually been instrumental in getting this whole thing with the Australian pop star off the ground.
Noting how the former Disney princess is clean as a whistle and loving every minute of it now, the source shared more about how that played a role in letting love blossom with Simpson:
“Miley’s sobriety has made her very present in her relationship. Her decision to be sober has changed the way she thinks about life. She would describe herself as a believer in this new way of life and is looking to make sobriety a long-term lifestyle.”
Wow! That’s quite the change coming from such a progressive person as Miley has been in the past… but we’re here for it!
It’s all coming to a point of culmination, too.
