Amy Duggar really is trying.

She swears that she is.

The question is why.

"I wanted to do it privately. I wanted to protect her," Amy told followers of how she originally tried to get in touch with Anna, whose husband was sentenced last week to over 12 years in jail due to a child sex abuse conviction.

Amy said she has hoped at various times of late to be Anna's "sounding board."

However, due to a lack of response from Anna, Amy now wonders whether the mother of seven is "being monitored," or whether her phone has been "been taken away."

Or perhaps it's simply been turned "off," Amy added.

Anna, of course, has said nothing in public since her spouse ggot arrested in April 2021.

Unless you could an Instagram post that linked to a motion filed by Josh's defense team and said in the caption that "there's more to the story."

This post lended credence to reports that Anna truly believes Josh.

It also helps explain why Anna refuses to divorce her cheating and law-breaking husband.

"I don't know how to reach out to her," Amy added late last week.

"She also has my number. Unless she deleted it. I don't know. I could be blocked. That could be it, too. I have tried everything. Now, what do I do?"

Duggar has likely done all she can.

In mid-May, apparently unable to say this sort of thing directly to her cousin-in-law, Amy shared an open letter to Anna on social media.

Along with the above throwback photo, Amy begged, pleaded and urged Anna to leave her pedophile of a spouse.

"Anna, I feel for you. No woman wants to be in your shoes," wrote Amy at the time.

"You’re faced with an impossible decision and you’re being surrounded by the wrong kind of support."

Amy then references the type of household in which she was raised, along with the values she was taught..

"You’ve been taught since you were a child that marriage is forever and you prayed for God to send you a partner," continued Amy.

"You’ve constructed a life and a family with him. You didn’t choose any of this, and your kids certainly didn’t either.

"I’m not coming after you with some sort of tough love thing.

"This is what’s simply on my heart and I can’t help but to express it."

Josh and Anna Throwback

Amy tagged Anna in her message, which went on to note the impact her decisions will have on her children, the latest of which was born in October 2021.

"Someday your kids will be old enough to understand what kind of guy their father really is. You can’t protect them from the truth for forever!" added Amy Duggar.

"I’m saying all of this publicly so that when they do grow up, they will also know that they had family members shouting from the rooftops that they were worth protecting all along. Your children look up to you so much…

"Please be the role model they need in their life. Dillon and I are more than willing to help you."

Concluded Amy in this letter:

Josh has chosen how history will remember him.

By staying and supporting him you’re allowing him to choose that for you, too.

And I know standing up to all of this seems impossible now, but as a Mama, your instinct to protect your kids always has to be stronger than your fear.

The only people you would upset by leaving are the ones willing to sacrifice you and your children’s safety to protect Josh and his secrets.
