Can you believe Amy Schumer‘s little one is already five months old?!
The comedienne and husband Chris Fischer welcomed their adorable son Gene Attell in May, but time passing hasn’t made it any easier for Amy to go back to work. On Saturday, she opened up via Instagram about having mixed feelings surrounding her personal experience thus far.

Along with two sweet photos cradling her baby, Schumer wrote (below):
“5 months today and like all moms I love him so much it hurts. Im feeling strong and good and like I’m still a human being with interests and ambitions and goals I’m excited to reach. It’s felt good to be back at work. I was so worried about it and was afraid to go back after he was 3 months old. A couple days I’ve cried from missing him. But it’s mostly good to be back and the breaks energize me to be a better mom and appreciate our time even more. I have it a lot easier than many people but I wanted to share my experience. what was your going back to work experience?”
Luckily, she has the support of some amazing fellow mothers, like Drew Barrymore and Debra Messing, who commented (respectively) on her post, writing:
“I didn’t care about anything. Everything seemed trivial if it wasn’t about my kids. But after time, things fall into the new place. Not the old. Old is gone. Forever changed by a love that is indescribable! And it just seems to get better and better every day! I am no longer interested in myself as me. It’s being their mom. That’s who i am now. Your are such a cool person Amy! Your kid is gonna he so proud of you!”
“Oh he’s incredible.
I went back to W&G but was lucky I could bring him everyday so every bathroom break I’d hold him and I was able to breastfeed. But on show night? Omg, my body hurt from his absence. I felt a physical yearning, and I questioned myself, and felt guilty, and would cry. It was hard. I’d feel such moments of joy making people laugh. I’d get lost in the work and it energized me and empowered me. And then I’d get home and literally sprint to his crib and rock him, feeling like I was HOME.
It’s hard, being a working mom. But I believe that we are better mom’s when we are able to do what fulfills us. One hour at a time, Amy. ❤️😘”
So sweet!!
The 38-year-old later dropped a note in the comment section thanking her friends and fans for the encouragement:
“These comments are so good to read. Thank you ❤️”
Previously, Amy laughed off the trolls who shamed her for doing what she does best two weeks following the delivery of her beeb. After performing a set at the famed Comedy Cellar in NYC, mommy shamers took to the comment section of her IG to slam the star for returning to work so soon, but it didn’t seem to phase the I Feel Pretty lead too much.
Keep your head up and stay strong, momma!
