Um, we’re pretty sure Maddox is a 24-year-old grown man and can make his own decisions. Regardless, Brad Pitt‘s friend is not happy about the latest update with one of the kids!
This week, news broke that the eldest son of Brangelina, worked as an assistant director and dropped “Pitt” from his last name in the credits of his mom Angelina Jolie‘s upcoming movie, Couture. That means he is listed as “Maddox Jolie” instead. A big change from last year! Maddox was credited as “Maddox Jolie-Pitt” on her movie Maria after serving as a production assistant, but it looks like he’s done having ties to the actor’s name! Of course, anyone who has followed their divorce will not be surprised by this move. Maddox has always been his mother’s son, and he famously takes her side.

Brad and Angelina’s children have a very complicated relationship with their famous father after he allegedly assaulted and verbally abused the Wanted actress while aboard a plane in 2016. Maddox also follows in the footsteps of his three other siblings: Shiloh, Zahara, and Vivienne. The three girls also dropped “Pitt” as their last name — though Shiloh took it a step further than the rest and got it legally removed in August 2024, just three days after turning 18 years old.
We don’t know how Brad reacted to Maddox’s change. However, a close friend of the Bullet Train star made it clear they are PISSED and fully blame Angie for what happened. A pal told TMZ on Friday:
“It’s sad — this is a textbook example of what a successful campaign to separate a family looks like.”
Or perhaps it is simply what Maddox (and the other kids) wanted because he isn’t close with Brad following the alleged incident! Who knows!
