Carrie Underwood, Reese Witherspoon, & More Stars React To Deadly Tennessee Tornadoes

Celebrity Nashvillians and more of Hollywood are sending thoughts and prayers to Tennessee after the state was hit by multiple deadly tornadoes.

According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, at least 19 people were killed across four counties, and the state has declared a state of emergency. Meanwhile, several celebs took to social media on Tuesday to share well-wishes with the affected communities in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

One of those celebs was Reese Witherspoon, a Nashvillian, who shared on Twitter:

“Praying for everyone in Nashville and Middle Tennessee dealing with the aftermath of last night’s tornado. I’m just heartbroken and saying special prayers for the families who lost loved ones. Please stay safe.”

Taylor Swift posted across all socials saying:

“My heart is with everyone in Tennessee who has been affected by the tornados. Sending you my love and prayers.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted:

“Thinking of Nashville and everyone in Tennessee recovering from last night’s devastating tornadoes, especially those who have lost loved ones. Thank you to the first responders—please stay safe.”

The music industry was also shaken by the news. Record exec Scooter Braun — who reps country music stars like Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) and the Zac Brown Band — shared:

“Prayers going out to all those affected in Nashville this morning.”

Dan + Shay also responded to the tragedy, tweeting with a heartbroken emoji:

“East Nashville.”

(East Nashville is a hip neighborhood of the city that was devastated by the nature event.)

Unsurprisingly, Queen of Nashville herself Dolly Parton also sent love and support to the devastated areas with a heartwarming Instagram message. She shared:

Carrie Underwood, whose husband and two young children were hiding out in their Tennessee mansion when the bad weather hit, was especially shaken.

In an interview with TODAY on Tuesday, the Cry Pretty singer said her hubby Mike Fisher had to get their sons Isaiah, 5, and Jacob, 1, to safety during the severe storms while the singer was in New York City to promote her book.

She explained to Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly:

“I’m like texting people I know, and I’m like asking my husband if everybody’s good. He said he had to go upstairs at like 2 a.m. and grab the boys and take them down to a little safe room in our house. I was like, ‘I bet everybody is crying.’ It’s 2 a.m., freaking out, so it was scary.”

Underwood confirmed everyone in her family is safe, thankfully, and later said Nashville’s strong sense of community would help the region heal from the tragedy.

She said on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna:

“Nashville’s a very strong community, and anytime anything like this happens, you just see how strong they are, and how they band together to fix things.”

Sounds like they’re country strong!
