Celebs Pay Tribute To Nick Cordero After The Broadway Star’s Heartbreaking Passing From Coronavirus Complications

The entertainment world is in mourning today, less than 24 hours after Broadway star Nick Cordero lost his battle to COVID-19.

The talented thespian was just 41 years old when he passed away on Sunday having battled coronavirus in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital for the last three months. Worse still, he leaves behind wife Amanda Kloots and the couple’s 1-year-old son, Elvis.

Now, the tributes are coming in from all corners of the theater world as well as from actors, filmmakers, producers, and more, who are remembering Cordero as a talented, kind person — and sharing their love and support for his grieving family.

Zach Braff, a close friend of both Cordero and Kloots for years, led the way with a touching tribute on Instagram. Along with a pic of Nick and Amanda, the Garden State actor wrote (below):

“Nick Cordero passed at 11:40am today with his wife and mother by his side. I have honestly never known a kinder person. But Covid doesn’t care about the purity of your soul, or the goodness in your heart. The last thing he ever texted me was to look out for his wife and one year old son, Elvis. I promise the world they will never want for anything. I feel so incredibly grateful I got to have Nick Cordero enter my life.”

Wow. So sad.

Other stars flooded Kloots’ Instagram page with love.

After the grieving wife posted her own announcement of Cordero’s death late Sunday, the now-deceased star’s Waitress co-star Nicolette Robinson commented:

“Dear God, please watch over Amanda and Elvis and their family as they navigate through this immeasurable loss. My heart is broken for them and over the loss of my dear friend, Nick. Please help Amanda and her family feel lifted by the love surrounding them and please take care of that sweet sweet man, we will miss him terribly. Amen. Sending you all the love i can muster, Amanda, I’m so so sorry.”

Other condolence comments came in from across the Broadway community — among them Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr.West Side Story actress Rachel Ziegler, and Dear Evan Hansen alum Ben Platt.

Lin Manuel-Miranda offered his well-wishes to the grieving widow, as well:

Outside of Broadway’s tight-knit community alone, other big names have been mourning publicly over the tragic death.

Sarah Michelle Gellar also commented on Kloots’ IG post announcing the news, then followed up her comment with a separate emotional post about Cordero’s life and legacy:

I’m not even sure what to say right now. Today @nickcordero1 lost his battle with covid. For everyone out there thinking this disease is harmless, it’s not. Nick leaves behind a beautiful wife @amandakloots and the most precious son, who just celebrated his first birthday without his father. Amanda, because of this horrible disease we can’t even hug you. But it’s important that you know, there is an army of people here, ready to support you in ANY and EVERY way possible. I wish you understood the inspiration that you have been to so many, and I hope that brings you even the smallest bit of comfort through all this. But none of this is fair. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal” #ripnickcordero

my heart is broken over the loss of my friend Nick Cordero. as soon as I met him I knew God placed him in my life for a reason… He showed me such love, leadership through kindness, strength during difficult times, a true appreciation of life no matter what was happening around him… he made me smile and laugh when I was down and was magical to share the stage with. Onstage, backstage, offstage Nick Cordero was one of the finest people I have ever had the chance to meet, work with or just call a friend. He was taken too soon. He deserved more time to be here with his family and more time to continue to share the gift of his life with the world. But I know he will live on in me, for I remain forever changed for having known him. He will live on in his beautiful wife @amandakloots and his beautiful son Elvis. He will live on in the smiles of every audience member he ever touched with his brilliant voice and catching charm. He will live on through his MUSIC. When he sang “Just be yourself, you might get slapped like it's a crime Don't you bat an eye Live your life” I listened. I watched you do it Nick in your own life and I vow to you my friend to continue to do it in my life in your name. I love you Nick. And am truly blessed to have known you. “See you on the flippily-dippily!” #ripnickcordero

So touching…

And finally, Jesse Tyler Ferguson mourned the actor’s untimely passing while also saying what we’re all thinking in regards to dealing with this pandemic as a society:

Amen to that, on multiple levels.

Our thoughts continue to be with Cordero’s wife, Amanda, and his son Elvis, along with family, friends, and loved ones who are now grieving his passing. We can’t even imagine the suffering involved here, especially considering how hard he fought over the last three months.

Rest well, Nick. You were clearly very much loved and respected in this world…
